Hi from the middle of the heat wave!

Long waited Peggy and suitable LEDs are now available. Peggy 2, the “Light Emitting Pegboard kit” from Evil Mad Sciencen is a top product for everyone interested of LEDs and visual fun. You can create for example a LED sign for your window or your band, a geeky and super cool birthday card, or instigate the next generation of low-pixel-count video games. Only oyr imagination is the limit.With Peggy 2 kit you can controll up to 625 LEDs in colour and size you choose.

We have a selection of suitable, big 10mm LEDs in stock in different colours (R, G, B, W). With this big LEDs the Peggy board can be filled without notable gaps in between. You can also choose a pack of R/G/B/W, which is a selection of four different colours. With this option you can create a “pixels” consisting of four LEDs: Red, Green, Blue and White – seen from further this creates a multicolour board. These new, 10mm LEDs are available also without Peggy. You can choose the amount from 10 pcs, 50 pcs, 100 pcs and 640 pcs and then pick the coulour of your liking. Other new products include a MIDI shield for music lovers.

As you have noticed, we have LiPoly batteries in different sizes on stock. The smallest version of SparkFun LiPoly batteries, which is only a size of a finger tip and 20 mAh is coming soon. The next size, already on the stock is not big either 110 mAh:n Lipoly battery.

We will have a four weeks summer break from the Mid Summer. As before, the deliveries are still taken care of but the delivery times may vary from 2 to 16 days between 23rd of June to 24th of July 2011.

Tervehdys lämpöaallon keskeltä!

Pitkään odotetut Peggyt ja niihin sopivat ledit ovat nyt täällä. Peggy 2, “Light Emitting Pegboard kit” on Evil Mad Sciencen huipputuote kaikille ledien ja visuaalisuuden ystäville. Sen avulla voit luoda vaikka kyltin ikkunaasi tai keikalle tai antaa hienoimman nörttisyntymäpäiväkortin, tai miksei vaikkapa hääparin kuvaa vilkuttelevan taulun lahjaksi. Kekseliäisyytesi on rajana, sillä Peggyn avulla voit ohjata yhtä aikaa jopa 625:ttä haluamasi väristä ja kokoista lediä.

Olemme hankkineet Peggyjä varten isoja, 10 mm ledejä eri väreissä. Tämän kokoisilla ledeillä ei väleihin jää rakoja, joten jälki on useimpiin käyttötarkoituksiin hienoin mahdollinen. Voit valita yhden värin sijasta myös “r/g/b/w”n, eli koota Peggysi ledit punaisista, vihreistä ja sinisistä ledeistä, sekä täyttää neljännen kulman valkoisella ledillä. Näin saat neljän ledin kokoisia “pikseleitä”, joilla kauempaa katsoen voi luoda monivärisiä kuvioita. Uusia, 10 mm kokoisia ledejä on toki tarjolla myös ilman Peggyä. Valitse haluamasi määrä: 10 kpl paketti, 50 kpl paketti, 100 kpl tai 640 kpl ja haluamasi väri. Muita uusia tuotteita ovat mm. musiikinystävän MIDI shield.

Kuten olettekin huomanneet, litium-polymeeri -akkuja on varastossamme montaa eri kokoa. Piakkoin tulossa on myös superpieniin tiloihin sopiva, vain sormenpään kokoinen, kapasiteetiltaan 20 mAh:n akku. Myös jo varastossa olevista akuista pienin, 110 mAh:n Lipoly-akku on vain naisen etusormenkärjen kokoluokkaa.

Paeae jää juhannuksesta kuukaudeksi kesälomalle. Kuten ennenkin lomien aikaan, tilaukset kulkevat silti, mutta viiveellä. Tämä tarkoittaa juhannusajan postipyhineen noin 2-16 päivän toimitusaikaa välillä 23.6.-24.7.2011.

Valoisaa kevättä

Uusia tuotteita ovat NGX Technologiesin Blueboardit, jotka saa Paeaelta tuttuun tapaan kaverihintaan. Tarjolla ovat Arduino Megaa muistuttava mikrokontrollerikortti Blueboard LPC1768-H ja järeämpi, näytöllinen Blueboard LPC214x sekä Blueboardien ja muiden ARM-prosessorien ohjelmointiin tarkoitettu NGX ARM USB JTAG.

Litium-polymeeri -akkuja on nyt varastossa yhden koon sijasta useita eri kokoja, eri käyttötarkoituksiin. Pienin on kooltaankin erittäin näppärä 110 mAh:n Lipoly-akku ja suurin peräti kuuden Ah:n akku. Myös sensorioriosiossa on myös uusi anturi: lämpötila- ja kosteusanturi DHT22.

Lovely spring time,

New products in the stock are Blueboards from NGX Technologies. Products include Blueboard LPC1768-H, Blueboard LPC214x and NGX ARM USB JTAG which is meant for programming Blueboards and other ARM processors.

You’ll now find Lithium-polymer batteries in several different sizes for different purposes. The smallest one is tiny 110mAh Polymer Lithium Ion Battery and the biggest one is 6Ah Polymer Lithium Ion Battery. There is also a new sensor in the stock: Humidity and Temperature Sensor DHT22

Hyvää alkanutta vuotta!

Aktiivisimmat ovatkin jo huomanneet, että uusia tuotteita on tullut runsaasti molemmin puolin vuodenvaihdetta. Kauppaan on lisätty “oheistuotteet”-kategoria, josta löydät kirjat, työkalut ja muut elektroniikkaan läheisesti liittyvät tarvikkeet. Kategoriassa on uutena kirjana Making Things Talk, ja työkaluja tarvitsevalle on tarjolla SparkFunin sivuleikkurit, kärkipihdit ja tarkkuustyöhön suunniteltu kuuden meisselin paketti.

Muita uusia tuoteryhmiä ovat RFID:t, jotka löytyvät täysin uudesta tuoteryhmästä “kommunikaatio”. Ryhmään on kerätty erilaisia laitteita joiden avulla voit jutella eri laitteille, kuten Xbee ja USB. RFID:n lukemiseen löytyy 13,56 MHz Mifare moduuli ja itse tageja on kolmea erilaista: erittäin pieni pestävä versio, isohkon kolikon kokoinen ja reiällinen versio, sekä hyvin ohut ja hieman joustava läpinäkyvä tagi.

Johdinpuolelta tarjolla on nyt vihdoin myös female-liittimellisiä hyppylankoja ja koukullisia johtoja grabber hookilla. Myös LCD-valikoima on laajentunut ja tuotteita tulee varastoon juurikin lisää. Hinta-laatusuhteeltaan erityisen loistava tuote on kymmenen euron taustavalollinen 16×2 merkin LCD-näyttö.

Muita uusia tuotteita on halkaisijaltaan noin sentin kokoinen piipperi /erittäin pieni kaijutin. Suomessa hiukan tuntemattomampaa aihetta, älytekstiilejä varten hankimme varastoon myös muutaman LilyPad-mikrokontrollerin ATmega328 prosessorilla. LilyPad on ommeltavissa vaatteeseen, laukkuun tai muuhun kankaiseen esineeseen ja sen muotoilu on älytekstiileihin erittäin sopiva.

Olemme työstäneet uutta kauppasovellusta nyt muutamia kuukausia ja toivomme pääsevämme beta-vaiheeseen alkukeväästä. Uuden kaupan myötä valikoimiin tulevat myös Adafruitilta tutut ledit. Uutisia voi jatkossakin lukea myös Paeaen blogista ja IRCnetissä #paeae -kanavalla pääsee juttelemaan viimeisimmistä tapahtumista.

Happy 2011!

As some of you have already noticed, a lot of new products have been added to the stock during the last month or so. You can now find an accessories category with books, tools and other things related to the electronics. New book at that cathegory is a Making Things Talk. In case you are in need of some small tools, you will find SparkFun’s flush cutters, needle nose pliers and a screw drivers set meant for precision work.

We just atted some RFIDs to our stock. They can be found under a new cathegory called communication, where we have gathered devices like Xbee, USB and RFIDs as they all help you to talk with electornics or other devices. At RFID cathegory you’ll find a RFID reader 13,56 MHz Mifare module and three different kind of tags very small laundry version, bit bigger version with a hole in the middle and a very thin and bit flexible transparent model.

Also jumper wires category has grown. You’ll now find female / female wires and wires with grabber hook.  LCD category has grown and we’ll get some more in few days. This 16×2 LCD Display has a specially good quality / price ratio, as it’s just ten euros for a basic LCD with backlight.

You’ll also find a very small buzzer and little less known LilyPad from the new products. The LilyPad Arduino is a microcontroller board designed for wearables and e-textiles. The LilyPad we are selling has an efficient ATmega328 processor. It is designed especially for textiles.

We are working with our new shop software and hope to get it for beta-state during the early spring. With the new shop we will also add LEDs familiar from Adafruit and we will have other new things and possibilities then as well. Hyvää joulun aikaa!

Joulun kunniaksi tarjoamme Getting Started with Arduino -kirjan alehintaan vain 11 euroa ja värilliset Arduino Duemilanovet alennushintaan vain tasan 20 euroa kappale. Uudemmasta Uno-kortista huolimatta Arduinon lippulaiva ja suosituin tuote Duemilanove on edelleen loistava ja erittäin toimiva mikrokontrollerikortti.

Muistathan tilata joulupaketit ajoissa. Joulunaikaan posti ruuhkautuu ja tämä vaikuttaa myös meidän toimintaamme. Jouluaatoksi perille haluttavat pakettitoimitukset (Itella Keltainen Kuljetus 16) tulee tilata viimeistään 16.12. torstaina tai itellan kirje/maksikirje vaihtoehdolla viimeistään maanantaina 20.12. Tämän jälkeen tilatut tuotteet ovat Itellan mukaan perillä todennäköisesti vasta joulun jälkeen. Huomioithan että erittäin isot tilaukset saatetaan joutua pakkaamaan mudon tai koon vuoksi laatikkoon. XBee 2.5 modulin rinnalle on nyt tullut vastaava tuote pienemmällä antennilla XBee 2.5 module with chip antenna ja XBee PRO-malli. Pron kantomatka on 1,5 km esteettömässä tilassa ja sen lähetysteho on suurin Euroopassa sallittu.

Introducing 595 matrix kit

Finally we have our own design to offer as a kit, and we spent yesterday evening packaging our first batch of 595 matrix kit.

The kit is based on the classic 74HC595 shift register and it provides an easy way to control 8×8 RGB LED matrix from Arduino or other microcontroller. Multiple kits can be chained together to create a bigger panel. The design is licensed under Creative commons and the design and code examples are available at http://kits.paeae.com/595matrix. New Arduino products

We are very excited that the Arduino team finally announced the new Arduino Uno and Arduino Mega 2560 yesterday!

Arduino Uno

Replaces the Duemilanove. Biggest change is that FTDI usb-to-serial chip is replaced with ATmega8 which provides lower latencies and Arduino finally has his own USB Id.

Arduino Mega 2560

New Mega version that has the same ATMega8 usb-to-serial chip and ATMega2560 processor that has twice the memory compared to the previous ATMega1280!

We already have the new products in stock and we will start selling them today evening, first shippings begin tomorrow.

Postage fee machine

So our new postage fee machine arrived today!

I was excited but right now I’m bit surprised. Didn’t expect that the machine that reads our becoming post payment accounts and takes the fees directly from there using internet would have a phone in it. (we have a cable internet, fast one) It’s really an old fashioned, real land line phone… I haven’t seen those in ages. And the machine told it was updated at 2005. The technology behind it is still bit older… oh, this will be interesting. It also takes a lot of space from our small office space. …so I’m not totally happy (expenses, takes lot of space and is old technology..oh my)

Well, the main thing is that the delivery times should be faster again: same as before the new contracts from posti and same as first class postage delivery times usually (except for business customers;)  are (1-2 days). This is bit more expensive for us as we had to get that machine but it seems to be the only way to get things to customers in reasonable times so we will go with that.

Now we still need one more code from posti / itella and we are ready to go.

Alternative Party 2010

Hi there!
We had such a fun weekend (also exhausting) last time at Alternative Party event, that we will be there again this year!

The event will be held at Cable Factory, Helsinki from Friday to Sunday, 22nd to 24th October.

Sivu will be there during the whole event. We are currently thinking of kind of small workshop and/or mini contests for you guys. Some special discounts will be active at the party and you will of course get things a bit cheaper as there is no postage fees.

delivery times at Paeae

On May Finnish post added one day to the delivery times for the contract we are using – which basically allows us to leave the deliveries without standing on the waiting lines for ages every day. We have found this +1 day an annoy to our customers and we are currently trying to solve the problem. Been working with this for few weeks and I think we can soon deliver things to you 1 day faster / at the regular times and as it was before the summer.
