New extruder
After a failure yesterday I managed to print a new printuder II to replace my old printuder (below). I think it’s much better than the regular plastruder and has not failed after I installed the MK5 worm gear.
Whatte…
I left my cupcake alone to print and when I come back, this is waiting for me… Apparently Z stage raised itself from the nuts and started climbing… Update: Seems that the filament got stuck to the cardboard box above and extruder started climbing when it couldn’t get more filament.
FirmCake firmware released
In my opinion the current G3Firmware is quite a mess. I hacked an LCD support to it some time ago and found the code to be quite hard to follow and not very organized. Also I’ve been thinking of new motherboard based on Arduino Mega and I needed firmware for that so last week I [...]
New rods
Replaced the standard cupcake threaded rods with trapezoidal rods. It rocks! I was really unimpressed with the rods that came with my Cupcake package. Most of them were already not very straight and made the Z-stage wobble really bad. Now the z-stage flows really smoothly. Hardest part was to get the ReplicatorG axis scale value [...]
New extruder
I’ve had a lot of problems with Plastruder MK4, it strips the filament all the time or the idler wheel loosens during the build. Main problem from my opinion is the idler wheel tightening. It just is not good enough. I found a Printruder II model which looked like an excellent alternative to Plastruder so [...]
Let there be light!
White led strips are a really good and fast way to add some light to your cupcake
Cupcake CNC with Bluetooth
First thing to do when Cupcake CNC has been built? Making it wireless! I had a few BlueSMiRF Gold modems lying around and i was thinking of using them for Cupcake before I received the kit. Now that the kit is completed I immediately checked the Sanguino board if bluetooth module would fit it without [...]
Cupcake CNC building
I received our Cupcake CNC kit yesterday, yey! Of course I had to build it right away. Normally I don’t look instructions much because most of the time I can figure out how the thing has to be built. Cupcake however had so many parts that I just felt lazy and followed build instructions from [...]
